Movievision has had an amazing start to this year, with all the preparations for the World Cup football. After a slow start in January, the excitement levels rose as the opening games drew closer and so too did the orders increase. However, as everyone in the Industry knows and understands that, although the World Cup might be overshadowing everything else at this time, normal business must continue. Studios, Places of Worship, and rental houses still all need to buy and upgrade existing lighting and grip equipment. Movievision has been privileged to supply a large amount of grip and lighting equipment to our clients over the last few months, to whom we say many thanks and please see all the specials we have in store for you, for the rest of the year. Top of our list was a large rental company, who needed the equipment in the country no later than the first week of May. Luckily, we were able to deliver most on time with great support from our suppliers Filmgear and Kupo, and not forgetting our freight company, who have been incredible over this hectic time. Unfortunately, due to the strike, a lot of equipment is still floating around at sea, and Movievision is not the only company affected. There is a huge amount of anger, panic and stress in the industry at the moment. Let us all just hope that by the time everyone reads this, the stress will be forgotten and all the equipment that has been promised for venues, stadiums and fan parks is all up and we will be relaxing and enjoying the World Cup fever in our Country. Movievision, has also done a turn- key project, upgrading and installing equipment into a Christian Church in Pretoria and we have finally completed a three year project relating to, a studio in Bloemfontien. Equipment has also been supplied to Orbital Lighting, Blond Productions, the new ‘NEWS’ studio for Aljazeera TV, Rapid Blue, Cinegate Africa, Nates Audio Visual and the refurbishment of the South African Police Studio and ENG Units.
